It messes with the plot for first time viewers. Sony/Amazon should've made sure that the episodes are in sequential order. My second gripe: some episodes are horribly out of order! For example, some of the filler episodes are mixed in with the Demon Portal arc and some episodes of the Demon Portal arc are not in order. Having characters learn and grow can have a positive projection to younger audiences. I can't say that I expect that in a show that's originally meant to entertain children, but in my opinion, that's integral to storytelling. That's what's lacking in JCA, character development. There are a seldom few times where Jade does regret her actions, but it's not enough to make her character develop. Uncle says that Jackie is a bad influence on Jade, but honestly, she's a bad influence on herself. 98% of the troubles in this cartoon are caused by Jade's blatant disregard for sound advice. However, now that I'm older, my view on her has changed. To younger viewers, she's a very cool kid. If there's a character that has NO respect for authority or concern for self-preservation, it's Jade Chan. Jade Chan makes the show.in a good and bad way. Some may agree with me, some may not, but I've got to say this. Now that the fanfare is out of the way, I'll get into critic mode for a bit. One of the best cartoon series to ever debut! References to Jackie Chan's movies are littered throughout the episodes, amazing action and plots, intriguing characters, and of course, humor! This DVD is absolutely worth buying! (I still think that it's overpriced.)
